We had a fun time celebrating the 4th of July.  Tuesday we took some Subway Sandwiches down to the Mississippi River and had a picnic and walked around till we were about to die of heat stroke.  Then we went shopping at the outlets.  Bret found some killer deals and got some new clothes and a belt and Benson got some new pj's.  Unfortunately for me there are no good deals for girls.  I guess they figure girls will pay more or the good deals are gone before you can get to them.  Wednesday we went out shopping again but did not find anything then went out to dinner and had dessert with some friends.  I made trifle for the first time and it turned out pretty good.  We put Benson to bed and Bret and I went out to the landing and watched some fireworks and called it a night.  Bret was not feeling the best and has to get up early tomorrow for school so we went to bed early.

Bret went to an American Optometric Association meeting in Chicago.  By the look of it and the stories he told me it seemed like a good excuse for a vacation without me!  He carpooled with some friends from school it was around a nine hour drive.  He had to go to a few classes while he was there but I think he spent a lot of time sight seeing.  I asked him if he had fun and he said "sure".  I think he didn't want to act too excited so I would not feel bad that I missed out.  I am glad he had fun, Benson and I sure missed him though!
